An eight year old girl was listening very carefully to the discussion of her parents about her younger brother. From their discussion she understood that her brother is very sick and her parents don’t have enough money for treatment. Due to the medical expenses, they left the big house and got settled in a small house. She knew one thing that if her brother does not undergo a surgery, he won’t live.
The sad words of her father saying to her mother, \u201conly a miracle can save our son’s life\u201d fell in her ears. Immediately that small girl went to her bedroom and took the glass jar when she hided and spilled all the money she saved on the floor. She counted them very carefully and put back the money in the jar and then she went to the medical shop. She took all the money from the jar and kept them on the medical shop table.
The shop keeper asked her, what do you want? The girl replied I need a miracle for my brother who is very sick. On hearing the words, the shopkeeper was shocked and asked her to repeat her words. That small girl replied, \u201cMy brother’s name is Andrew, he has a small tumor in his brain. I heard my father saying; only a miracle can save him. So what is the rate of a miracle\u201d?
With a sad smile on his face, the shopkeeper replied, \u201clittle child, we sell only medicines here, we don’t sell miracles\u201d. But the girl asked, \u201cPlease give me a miracle. I have some more money; even if it is not enough I will save more money and will give you\u201d.
A well dressed rich man came to that shop. And he saw the small girl and asked, \u201cWhat kind of miracle do you want for your brother?\u201d having her eyes wide open, the girl told, \u201cThere is a small tumor in my brother’s brain. He needs a surgery, but my father doesn’t have enough money. I heard my father saying; only a miracle can save my brother\u201d.
The rich man asked, \u201cHow much money do you have?\u201d And the girl replied, \u201cI have one Dollar and eleven cents\u201d.
The rich man smiled at her and told the girl, \u201cOne Dollar and eleven cents are enough to save your brother. So take me to your parents. I want to meet them\u201d. That rich man was the famous Neurologist Surgeon Dr Carlton Amstrong. And that Doctor operated the small boy free of cost. Within few months the small boy got cured completely.
The small girl’s mother did not understand anything. She got shocked thinking \u201cHow did this miracle happen? How much does this miracle cost?\u201d
But for the small girl, the cost of that miracle was just One Dollar and Eleven cents and her faith.
