God is seated on His throne as a righteous Judge. An even balance is in his hands. In Job – 31:6, Job says, “Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity”. Belshazzar, the Babylonian king, made a great feast and brought the golden and silver vessels which were taken from the Temple of God in Jerusalem. And the king, his princes, his wives and his concubines drank of those vessels. Then they praised their gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood and of stone. During that time, the fingers of a man's hand appeared and wrote against the candlestick upon the wall. And the king saw the part of that hand. And it wrote, “Tekel” which means, “Thou are weighed in the balances and art found wanting”. The same day he was slain.
The God, who walks among the seven golden candlesticks, is seeing the churches with His eyes which are as a flame of fire. He is weighing the works and the shortcomings of the churches. God is weighing our works in the weighing balance. John in his vision saw the churches of Asia in 1st century, and God saw the shortcomings of those churches, present churches and the future churches and is weighing them. Let us see, the people who were weighed by God and told them their want.
- Church of Ephesus:
In Revelation – 2: 2, 3, 4, we read, He who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks, “I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast labored, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love”. Each and every one of us should have the love which we had at the time of our salvation till the end. - Saul was weighed and was found wanting:
In 1 Samuel – 15:28, we read, “And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou”. The first king of Israel, Saul did not obey God’s voice. So Samuel said, hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the voice of the rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. - Jeroboam was weighed and was found wanting:
In 1 Kings – 14: 9, 10, we read, “But thou hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back: Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone”. Jeroboam led the people of Israel to worship the image of the golden calves. When we read, Psalms – 106: 19, 20; Proverbs – 16:2; Isaiah – 40: 12, 13; Revelation – 6:5 we can see that there is destruction, if we are weighed and found wanting. In Revelation – 6:5, we read, “And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand”. In Isaiah – 40: 12, we read, “And comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?” it is our God only. - Belshazzar was weighed:
In Daniel – 5: 22, 23, we read, “And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knowest all this; But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know, and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified”. So he was slain the same day. - Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was weighed:
In Daniel – 4: 30, 31, 32, we read, “The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; the kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee”. According to that Nebuchadnezzar ate grass like an oxen for seven years. - Sennacherib king of Assyria was weighed:
In 2 Chronicles – 32: 10 – 21, the king of Assyria exalted himself above the God of Israel and blasphemed him. In 2 Chronicles – 32: 21, we read, “And God sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword”. - King Joash was weighed:
In 2 Chronicles 24, we can see, King Joash did that which was right in the sight of the Lord all the days of his father in law, Jehoiada the priest. But after the death of Jehoiada, in 2 Chronicles 24:15 ff we read, And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for their trespass. Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the Lord; and they testified against them; but they would not give ear. And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and said unto them, thus saith God, why transgress ye the commandments of the Lord, that ye cannot prosper? Because ye have forsaken the Lord, he hath also forsaken you. So for this they stoned him and killed him.
My dear friends! Our God is a righteous God. He weighs all our actions, works, ways, thoughts, the words of our mouth, so that he can give reward according to that. If we are found wanting when weighed in the balances, God will reward us according to our sins and transgressions. So let us fear God and live according to His words! AMEN! HALLELUJAH!
