Beloved God’s children in Christ,
We are the bride of Christ, so get ready to be holy, spotless and without any blemish, we being in the last days awaiting the second coming of our Spiritual groom Jesus Christ. We must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
We read in Song of Solomon 8:5 “Who is that coming from the wilderness, leaning on her beloved?”
Where this bride comes from is very important. She comes from wilderness. Wilderness is warm and drought, lack of cultivation; dangerous species live in this place. God has chosen us in the wasteland given us the understanding and guarding us as apple of His eye. God came to know His bride when she was oppressed.
God led the Israelites through a great and terrible wilderness (Deut. 32:10; Deut. 8:15).
God leads us through the wilderness to test us (Deuteronomy 1:19, Matt. 4: 1). Victorious life in Canaan can be achieved only after the test.
The reason why the wilderness life happens in a man’s life is because of disobedience and grumbling (Exodus 16: 2,3).Those who were able to flee fled from the wilderness and returned to Egypt. Nevertheless, those who could not flee their heart were filled with the desires of Egypt.
The Spirit led Jesus Christ into the wilderness. Jesus was tempted by the devil. Jesus Christ overcame temptation victoriously and God the Father was well pleased with Him.
God had not allowed the Israelites to pass through the Philistines, even though it was a short cut to reach Canaan. God took the Israelites through the wilderness, a roundabout way and made them cross the Red Sea. He guides us through the wilderness so that we may not perish, we may not sink, we may not die in the battle (Exodus 13: 17, 18).
God’s voice is heard in the wilderness (Matt. 3: 1-3). God’s voice is heard in the midst of shortcomings. He leads us through the wilderness to repentance. The wilderness is the place where God performed great miracles and signs to show His miraculous power to the people of Israel. The wilderness life helps us to wait to hear God’s voice, to identify God, to understand how God reveals Himself by performing miracles. In this wilderness, God fed the people of Israel with manna. (Deu 8:16)
Deuteronomy 8: 3 says,
“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”
God leads us through the wilderness for our good in the days to come. HE leads the way through the wilderness to conquer drought, poverty, thirst, war, and deadly beasts (Deu 8: 2). The bride of Christ must completely dependent on her soul mate. We read in Song of Solomon 8: 5 bride is “leaning on her beloved”
How should we depend on God?
Like a son who is depended on the father
Like a servant who is dependent on the master
Like a disciple who is obedient to the teacher
Like a bride who is dependent on the bridegroom
Like a slave who is dependent on the master
Why should we depend on God?
Salvation is attained “only”by depending on God.
Liberty can be attained “only”by our continued dependence on God.
Food is provided, when we depend on God.
Depend on God to enjoy God’s protection.
God shows us the way, when we dependent on God.
God will fight for us; When we depend on God.
God gives us victory when we depend on God.
- Salvation:
Salvation is attained ‘only’ by depending on God.Salvation belongs to the Lord. One of the two thieves crucified on the cross, was saved at the last moment by depending on God. If we do not depend on God, the darkness of sin will cover us. - Liberty / Freedom / Deliverance:
Liberty can be attained ‘only’ by depending on God. 2 Cor 3:17, says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” We must depend on God for deliverance. We should not depend on chariots or horses. Liberation is guaranteed if we have a close relationship with God. In Judges 16:20, 21 clearly states the condition of Samson. “Then she called, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!”
“He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him.” But Psalms 34:19 says that, The righteous person may have many troubles, Nevertheless, the Lord delivers him from them all. - Provision:
Food is provided when we depend on God. It was necessary for the Israelites to depend on God for food. God fed the Israelites in the wilderness for forty years. Moses also said, “You will know that it was the Lord when He gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because He has heard you’re grumbling against Him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the Lord.” (Exodus 16: 8).
The ungodly people of Israel forgot God’s covenant and forgot the God who cared for them. We must never forget the God who feeds us. - Protection:
Depend on God to enjoy God’s protection. In Psalm 91:1, 2, 3 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.” God is our fortress, and our refuge. If God leaves, God’s protection will be taken away from us. How important it is to depend on God daily for protection in this unstable life in this volatile world. - Lord will fight for Us:
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”(Exodus 14:14) God divided the Red Sea and the Israelites crossed on dry ground, and covered up the enemy in the depths of that same sea, bringing salvation to His people—this is the same God works on our behalf today. He will fight for you. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. “And when the Israelites saw the great power the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant” Exodus 14: 31 - God shows us the way:
God shows us the way, when we depend on Him. “By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.” Exodus 13:21 God guides people when they depend on Him. Lean on God to hear His heart beat while walking on His path.
Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” While walking the path of Christ, you should rely only on Him. Walking with Jesus everyday makes us holy. - Victory:
I Cor 15: 57 says, “… thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Victorious persons are followers of Christ who successfully resist the evil power and temptation of the world’s system. A victorious person is not sinless, but holds fast to faith in Christ until the end. He does not turn away when times get difficult. Being victorious requires complete dependence upon God for direction, purpose, fulfilment and strength to follow His plan for our lives.
In whatever life situations we are facing, be assured, God is with us, He’s providing our needs, He has a plan, and nothing is too difficult for Him.
The God of miracles fights for us today, and he will never let us go.
He will be on our side to give us victory.
