Beloved God’s children in Christ,
God created man. He created all that was required for man, even before he created man. He created the garden of Eden and put man there and protected him. He spoke with man every day. All that get expected out of man was obedience in all things. But man had been preoccupied with his ‘self’ that he deliberately disobeyed Voice of God and started to things of his own desire. The first man Adam did not comply to God’s word. Consequently, as it is said in Genesis 3:8,9,10 they heard the voice of the God our Lord in the cool of the day and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of God amongst the trees of the garden.
And the Lord God called to Adam and said unto him ” where are you?”. And he said, “I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid, because I was naked.” Adam and Eve obeyed to which was not God’s word and hence the separation came in-between.
Jeremiah 22:21 says ” I warned you when you felt secure, but you said, ‘ I will not listen!’ This has been your way from your youth; you have not obeyed me”.
Jeremiah 11:3 says” tell them that this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Cursed is the man who dies not obey the terms of this covenant. God expect that man should listen to Gods voice and should do as he is old to be, without a hint of doubt. We shall see a few of the many reasons as to why man does not listen or comply to Gods words.
- To Satisfy his “Self”, Man does not listen to Voice of God.
To satisfy his Self, thought to leave to Tarshish even though God has asked him to go to Nineveh. Jeremiah 42:5,22 says, “Then they said to Jeremiah,” May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with everything the Lord your god sends you to tell us. So now, be sure of this: You will die by the sword, famine and plague in the place where you want to go to settle.” - Disobeying God to live a worldly life
1 Samuel 8:19 says “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”. People did not obey to prophet Samuel. They wanted to live like gentiles. Roman 12:2 says “Do not conform any longer to the patterns of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Lord God wishes that his children entirely trust him and do all that he asks of them. But the people wished to live by self-justice rather than to obey God. Under Gods reign they lived without famine for 40 years. But after nominating a King to rule them the people of Israel suffered from famine. - Disobeying God out of fright towards other people
1 Samuel 15:24 says: “The Saul said to Samuel,’ I have sinned. I violated the Lords command and your instructions. I was afraid of the people and so I gave into them.” 1 Samuel 15:20 says, “’But I did obey the Lord, ‘Saul said. ‘I went on the mission the Lord assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Hagag their king.” God had commanded to kill Hagag, the King of Amalekites. But Saul kept him alive. He did not listen to voice of God. - Abraham obeyed to Voice of God
Genesis 22:18 says, “And through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed because you have obeyed me.’” Only because Abraham had obeyed to Gods words, all nations were blessed through him. And God blessed his name. - Deuteronomy 5:32 says,” So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left.” Deuteronomy 5:26,27 says, “For what mortal man has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of Fire, as we have, and survived? Go near and listen to all that the Lord our God says. Then tell us whatever the Lord our God tells you. We will listen and obey.”
The Lord God directly spoke to the people of Israel. He wished to reign over them. For Moses to ask to God and convey to the people is wrong. Also, Moses conveyed exactly what the Lord God wanted to convey. But the prophets who came after him failed to do so. Exodus 19:19 says: “And the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder. Then Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.” Even though God wished to speak directly, the Israelites were scared that the God might harm them. - Because they were sleeping they didn’t hear Voice of God
1 Samuel 3:10 says,” The lord came and stood there, calling us at the other times,” Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” When a man is asleep he does not hear god’s word. There is no man who has harnessed his heart, despite which God was ready. God yearned to be related to man even though he had thousands of millions of angels to serve him. Eli did not bring up his children wisely, so God was unable to speak with him. Eli’s children. They were wicked men. And because Hannah had prayed to the Lord, God chose Samuel. 1 Samuel 3:20,21 says, “And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord. The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word” - If your heart is upright, you shall hear Voice of God
Isiah 6:7-10 says,” With he touched my mouth and said, ‘See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.’ Then I heard the voice of the Lord, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’ He said, ‘Go and tell this people: ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving. ‘make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”
If our heart is upright we will hear gods voice. God will not talk with us the second time if we don’t obey to him the first time. Jeremiah 20:8,9,14,15 says “Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. So, the word of the Lord has brought me insult and reproach all day long.” He obeyed to a level until he lost his prestige and he blamed himself. - When you give into the desires of flesh you will not hear Voice of God
Revelation 1:10 says, “On the Lords day I was in spirit, and heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet.”
Dear Beloved in Christ! Man will hear gods voice only when he is in the garden of Eden. We should be planted in Gods church for that. As 1 Kings 19”11-13 says God speaks in gentle whisper most of the time. Acts of apostles 9:4,5 we Saul had hardened his heart and hence did not hear the voice of the God. If we are zealous to listen and to comply to the voice of the lord then we shall be a blessing to our family and to others! – Hallelujah!
