In Psalms 84 -10 the psalmist sings “Better is one day in your courts, than a thousand elsewhere” -NIV
The Hindu news paper on 25-11-2000 published an incident about a person who honoured God’s day. That man was official football goal keeper of Argentina ‘Carlos Angel Roa’. In 1998 Roa made his country successful by blocking many goals in world football tournament held in France. So Argentina football federation was ready to pay 10 million dollars (47.5 crore rupees) as annual salary. But he had to pay on few Sundays. So Roa refused to accept that offer. His trainer Jose Bekerman was not able to convince Roa.
Again England Manchester United had come forward to offer the 30 years old player payment of one million dollar for a football series. But Roa refused that also since he wanted to honor Lord’s day.
Today Carlo is doing God’s ministry from a village in Argentina. He gave up all the fame, honor and many million dollars since he wanted to honor Lord’s day. How true is that anyone who loses anything for God will never become poor.
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the Lord’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle
words,
then you will find your joy in the Lord,
and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the
heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father
Jacob.”
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
