Dear ones in Christ,
When we meditate the word of God, he gives us power and the anointing in our spirit. We must preseve it, for we read that power belongs to God, psalm 62:11. This power reaches us from heaven when we meditate the word of God. It gives understanding to the simple psalm 119:130. Even elderly ministers of God have lost this power when they fail to meditate the word of God. For our inner man is strengthened by this.
In Luke 8:11 we read in the parable that God’s word is the seed without which there can be no fruit. When we read his words the spiritual fruits shadow us. God’s work is like the fire that burns the chaff within us. It is like the hammer that breaks the rock. For to be his beloved we have to be melted and broken. And to strengthen we should sip the pure milk of the word.
Let us look into 7 benefits of meditating the word of God.
1. The Word of God enhances our conscience:
The Jews were stiffnecked people who crucified our Lord Jesus. But on the day of Pentecost they were pierced in their hearts by what Peter spoke to them. They gained their conscience. The Lord’s word gives us the feeling and allows us to be freed from the ghost of our past. Acts 2:37 says that they were cut to their heart and questioned themselves of their wrong doings. The word of the Lord lifts the darkness from our heart.
2. The word of the Lord rejuvenates us:
1 Peter 1:23 says “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever”. The word of the Lord transforms our inner man. Jacob 1:18 says that “Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures”. 2 Peter 1:4 says “that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature,”. The people of Berea were more fair minded because they were more eager in the word of God. So the word of Lord is like a mirror, it shows us the error and helps is transform.
3. The word of the Lord makes us believe:
Roman’s 10:17 says that ” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Our faith grows because of the word of God. Paul and Silas preached the word of God to the keeper of the prison and his household. And they same night they were all redeemed and baptized. They were saved because they believed in the word of God, Acts 16:32 . The word of the Lord walks us in the faith true to be saved.
4. The word of the Lord make us Victorious:
The victorious faith when we follow the word of God. Ephesians 6:17 says “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”. 1 John 5:4 says that “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—[a]our faith.” For to win this world of tribulations, it is essential that we meditate the word of the Lord. Psalm 119:101 says “I have restrained my feet from every evil way,That I may keep Your word.”, the evil will never ever overcome us.
5. The word of the Lord sanctifies us:
The word of the Lord cleans us and prevents us from doing sin. Psalm 119:11 says “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.” If we wish to be the true heir of the Lord, we should surrender ourselves to his word. 1 Peter 2 :1-3 says ” Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow [a]thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” Psalm 119:9 says “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.” The word of the Lord helps us keep our purity.
6. The word of the Lord makes us happy:
Jeremiah 15:16 says “And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;”. It helps us to be happy and to retain the same John 15:11. Psalm 119:92 “Unless Your law had been my delight,I would then have perished in my affliction.” The word of the Lord saves us from this world of pain and afflictions.
7. The word of the Lord grants us Eternal Life:
1 John 5:13 says “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, [a]and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.” These words bring in a faith within us that a eternal house is awaiting us. In order to be worthy of this most precious gift, let us like King David question ourselves if we are zealous in the word of God? Do we think about it all day? Psalm 119:97. Let our eyes be open, so that we may see Wondrous things from his word. Psalm 119:18.
