“His winnowing fork is in his hand to thoroughly clear off his threshing floor and to gather his wheat into the storehouse. But he will burn up the chaff with fire that can never be put out.” Matthew 3:12
These are the words told by John the Baptist about Jesus Christ. In those days there used to be a threshing floor in the villages. In that place there used to be huge hoard of paddy which was harvested. They take a basket and fan that paddy. As they fan the paddies the chaff gets blown away. Only the paddy used to be gathered. This parable explains only this. Good water and fertilizers were given to the field. But among them some became weeds. Like this only, some people hear good messages in the church. They get filled with the Spirit. But, in the end, they become like those chaffs. How is it possible? Are you shocked?
Inside the Paddy or the wheat corn, there is rice or wheat. But inside the chaff there will be nothing. In many people’s life, their inner life used to be empty. They will be righteous outside, but inside they will be filled with all kinds of badness like anger, irritation, enmity, bad thoughts, adultery and abomination. At the coming of Jesus Christ all the chaff will be left behind. If they do not repent, they will face the fiery hell at the second coming of Jesus. So be careful and repent. If you show yourself as righteous to the world and inwardly if you have all kinds of unrighteousness, repent immediately. The righteous Judge Jesus Christ is coming. At least in this day, repent and cleanse your inner life. The winnowing fork is in the hands of Jesus Christ. He will burn up the chaff in the fire. Let us be careful and repent. And prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus Christ.
